Benefits of Membership

ASPR

  • Supports the development of early career researchers through an early career research award of $4,000, a consumer award, a best debut and best poster award, plus up to 10 grants in aid (valued up to $1000) to facilitate ASPR attendance for students and early career researchers at annual conferences.

  • Awards the best mental health researchers in Australia by negotiating with sponsors to fund various high profile researcher awards such as the Eli Lilly Oration, the Schering-Plough Award, The Rotary Dissemination Award and two awards from the Schizophrenia Foundation.

  • The society engages in advocacy to improve the funding of mental health research through its links with government, the NHMRC and the Mental Health Council of Australia, as well as other relevant organisations. ASPR can be your conduit to informing key individuals who control research funding or who support mental health research in Australia.

  • Provides an environment for Australasian researchers from all sub-disciplines of psychiatry and mental health to come together annually to promote the importance of mental health research.
